It is a highly effective cutting-edge combination of positive psychotherapy and relaxing, pleasant hypnosis. It uses practical, modern, and well researched strategies to help people make significant, positive changes in their lives in a relatively short period of time.
This refreshing approach always focuses on the present and future, and NEVER on the past. The hypnotherapist asks the client to consider their preferred future, for instance, What would be better if the problem had improved? What would have changed? This enables the client’s possible solutions to become more apparent and more easily worked towards. Hypnosis itself reduces anxiety, and this is achieved very simply, through relaxation and visualisation, allowing the client to focus on the positive aspects of their lives, thus encouraging that all important shift in perspective.

In this session, you are able to discuss how you would like hypnotherapy to help. Claire will explain how the brain works, how this relates to your own situation, and most importantly what can be done to help. The session lasts up to an hour and a half, and you should have a good idea of how subsequent sessions progress, how hypnotherapy helps, and whether you think that it is something you can benefit from.
If you decide that it will benefit you, then Claire will book you in for sessions, with dates and times to to suit you, and you will take a copy of her relaxation track away with you. This track is an important part of your treatment and you will be asked to listen to it every night to support your hypnotherapy sessions.
Subsequent Solution Focused Hypnotherapy sessions all usually follow the same format. In each one, Claire first uses Solution Focused discussion, which leads naturally and enjoyably on, towards a positive, realistic, achievable view of your future. You will never be asked to revisit difficult or distressing emotions or memories. After this pleasant therapeutic discussion, gentle, deeply relaxing trance helps to consolidate the progress made in the talking therapy. At home, Claire's wonderfully relaxing and inspiring track Relaxation and Coping Calmly, supports the work you have done over the weeks, in your therapy sessions.
There are many things we can become addicted to. Smoking, drinking and drug-taking are only some of the compulsive activities that can steal away our time, our money, ruin our relationships and sometimes even take our lives. All addictive activities are very different to each other, yet they all share a common characteristic; we spend an enormous amount of time thinking about them, until they take over our lives. The key to freeing yourself from any addiction lies in how you think about it. Solution Focused Hypnotherapy can help you to to change the way you think, and this different perspective puts you right back in control of your life once more.
In life-threatening situations, it is our natural instinct to be on high alert and to keep on checking for signs of danger in our environment. Unfortunately, for some of us, feelings of danger or threat are constant, giving rise to extreme anxiety. Our mind reacts in exactly the same way as that natural response to real danger, it encourages us to constantly check the environment and check again. When this happens, we can begin to repeatedly recheck, until we find we are locked into the the very behaviour that is intended to protect us. It is this cycle of rechecking, and the emotional roller coaster surrounding it, that is known as Obsessive Compulsive Disorder or OCD. All of us experience a need to recheck things from time to time, but if you are having difficulty with an overwhelming need to keep checking your surroundings, or are feeling your life is being driven by other repetitive compulsive behaviours, then hypnotherapy may just be the answer you are looking for.

Fear is the brain's natural response to the unknown or to a perceived or imagined threat, it is there to keep us alert and ultimately safe. However, when a fear becomes irrational and stops you from doing the things you enjoy, it can develop into a phobia. Actual or imagined events, items or activities can trigger a phobia. They can cause the fight or flight response to start. The more times we experience a phobic response, the stronger it can become. Indeed, the stronger the phobic response gets, the more likely we are to experience it happening again and again.
It is good to know, that Solution Focused Hypnotherapy can often help most simple phobias within just 3-4 sessions. If you feel that a phobia is ruining your life and you want to avoid it happening in future, get in touch with Claire. She will happily answer your questions. If you’re planning a holiday and have a fear of flying, book your initial consultation 3-4 weeks before you’re due to fly for best results.
Some simple phobias are: Fear of heights; spiders; needles; or flying. If you have a phobia that isn't listed then give me a call, it doesn't mean that I won't be able to help.
More complex phobias such as agoraphobia, claustrophobia and emetephobia may be helped with Solution Focused Hypnotherapy. Anticipatory nausea and needle phobia in cancer patients can be quite common and Solution Focused Hypnotherapy can help to deal with these troublesome anxiety states.
Other situation specific fears such as fear of public speaking, exam and interview nerves and perfomance anxiety also respond really well to a course of Solution Focused Hypnotherapy. During the initial consultation Claire will discuss the best treatment option for you.
Stress is a perfectly normal response to those situations in life that really stretch you, or put you under pressure. That job interview, those end of year exams or your driving test. Everyone experiences stress and anxiety at some point or other in their life. However, when these feelings become the norm (and this can sometimes be a gradual process) you can begin to feel you are losing control of your life.
Anxiety is a major underlying symptom of many disorders, phobias, panic attacks, social anxiety, blushing, skin problems and weight management to name but a few.
Having difficulty getting off to sleep happens to everyone from time to time, It can be frustrating and really spoil how you feel the next day. However, when this pattern of insomnia continues night after night, it can begin to become a real problem. Starting each day off feeling exhausted before you even begin, can have a devastating effect on other areas of your life.
**For some people, medication helps a lot, either over the counter or from their GP, for others, Solution Focused Hypnotherapy works really well.
Sessions always involve positive talking therapy and deeply relaxing hypnosis,
The key to success, no matter what the activity, is practise, practise, practise! It is absolutely vital. However, sometimes, it is simply not possible to practise your skills to the extent you want. Perhaps time is at a premium, or physical injury is an obstacle. You might have lost the ability to focus, or you might even feel that you are suffering from a mental block. .
Over the years, many famous sportsmen and women have turned to hypnotherapy to help them find and stay "in the zone" when it really matters. It has been proven that the sub-conscious mind cannot tell the difference between imagination and reality and when it comes to practising this is great news. It means that even when ill health stops us from physically practising our skills, our mind can visualise us practising and getting it right every time!.
Hypnosis for Sports Performance first came into the public eye when, in the 1956 Olympics in Melbourne, the Russian team brought 11 hypnotherapists with them to help them achieve their very best performance. They came away with 98 medals.
Today hypnosis is widely used in many sports, including athletics, golf, tennis and boxing. Glen Cately, WBC the Super Middleweight World Boxing Champion, turned to Solution Focused Hypnotherapy after being written off by the media and boxing critics. Glen attributes his success in the championship to Solution Focused Hypnotherapy. Indeed, he was so impressed by the Solution Focused model of hypnotherapy that he trained as a Solution Focused Hypnotherapist himself with Clifton Practice Hypnotherapy Training (CPHT). He now helps others to achieve their goals.
If you are looking for ways to improve your performance, or give your training that extra boost, Solution Focused Hypnotherapy can put you in the zone.
Research from the NHS information centre shows that up to 6.4% of adults displayed signs of an eating disorder (Adult Psychiatric Morbidity Survey, 2007). This research suggested that up to 25% of those showing signs of an eating disorder were male. In February 2015, it was estimated that more than 725,000 people in the UK are affected.
Professor John Morgan at Leeds Partnership NHS Foundation Trust designed the SCOFF screening tool to indicate a possible eating disorder. A score of two or more positive answers is a positive screen.
(from Beat website where help and information can be found if you are worried about yourself or someone you know)
Although many eating disorders develop during adolescence, it is not at all unusual for people to develop eating disorders earlier or later in life. Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa and Binge Eating, are often an outlet for a range of emotions including anger, anxiety, depression and low self-esteem. Such responses can be caused by a variety of factors: a general inability to cope, psychological trauma, bereavement or difficult relationships. Eating disorders can develop as a coping mechanism in response to these stresses. Solution Focused Hypnotherapy tackles these conditions by reducing anxiety and helping clients to regain a sense of perspective; once anxiety is under control many troublesome symptoms can be alleviated, including unhelpful behaviours associated with food.
*Obviously, the first port of call when looking for help is always through your GP, or you can contact the Beat (beating eating disorders) helpline.*

When it comes to achieving and maintaining our ideal weight, there is no quick fix. Diets will only work on a short term basis, it is much better to change your mind about the way you eat, the way you think about food, and keeping yourself motivated.
If you want to reach your ideal weight, and that means losing, OR putting on weight, and stay there then you really need to change the way you think about food.
Solution Focused Hypnotherapy aims to help you to find what works for you. When anxiety and stress levels are lower we become less likely to experience the emotional highs and lows that can lead to us eating inappropriate amounts of food at the wrong time.
Everyone can suffer with low mood from time to time. But when feelings of hopelessness or despair become overwhelming and persist for weeks or even longer, it can seem almost impossible to remember what life was like before you felt so bad. There are many symptoms of depression, and they can be successfully treated with the right approach.
Medication can be very helpful**, as can many complementary therapies.
Solution Focused Hypnotherapy is one such approach. It can help you to rediscover the vital, vibrant person you really are. First and foremost, hypnotherapy helps you to restore your sleep to its natural regular pattern. This helps you to feel refreshed, and ready for the new day when you wake up. The Solution Focused approach is a collaborative one. It is a journey of discovery. Claire works with you to help you find those inner resources which are exactly what you need, to help you towards that positive future you want for yourself.
Anger is a natural primitive brain reaction. It is the fight element of the fight or flight response, which comes into play when the brain thinks we are in some sort of life threatening situation. This is perfectly acceptable, if we are confronted by aggressive wild animals or attackers, but not when that driver just cut you up on the roundabout.
When our anger is hard to control, or it is inappropriate, it can become a destructive force in our lives, hurting those around us and straining our relationships, sometimes to breaking point.
Solution Focused Hypnotherapy can help you to make those vital changes to the way you think, the way you act and the way you interact. You will never be subjected to any analytical psychotherapy or be asked to relive any difficult situations. All you will ever be asked to do is to build up a positive picture of the future you want, and of the you you want to be.
Many things in life can contribute to feelings of low self esteem or lack of confidence. Solution Focused Hypnotherapy can help us to change the way we think and the way we feel about ourselves. The process is always positive and enjoyable. If you suffer from public speaking, or driving test nerves, are worried about exams or have an important interview, performance or presentation coming up, positive visualisation techniques, and the Solution Focused approach are ideal tools to help you achieve your goals. No matter what the situation, the real authentic positive you is there just waiting to be rediscovered.

There are different types of pain. Acute pain starts suddenly and can last for only a short time, or for days, disappearing once the underlying cause is treated. Acute pain occurs generally as a result of illness, trauma, surgery or painful medical procedure. The presence of pain is beneficial to the patient, it acts as an alarm signal. To ignore this might lead to any number of complications, or even death.
Chronic pain on the other hand, starts as an acute pain, but then it continues for an extended period, beyond what would have been the anticipated healing time.
Solution Focused Hypnotherapy can be used to manage pain. Hypnosis helps to change the way you perceive the pain messages and as a result it can help to reduce its intensity.
